The Parish Mission and Renewal commences next weekend. The “talks” will take place at each Mass for five weekends. Mass will take no longer than usual. Topics include Understanding of God, Death & Dying, Conscience, Sexuality & Family life. Please keep Fr Kevin O’Shea and the work of the Mission in your prayers. You might like to invite someone along who has some questions about the Church or who wonders how relevant the Church is to modern living. I’m sure these sessions will prove helpful to them.

Many priests of the Archdiocese celebrate their anniversary of ordination at this time of the year. Monday, the feast of Sts Peter and Paul, will see a major celebration for the Clergy of the Archdiocese and Queensland take place in the Cathedral of St Stephen in Brisbane. In this Year of the Priest we keep them, and all whom they have served, in our prayers.

Congratulations to Dan and Jill McGettigan who celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary last Sunday. May God bless you both with health and happiness as you live the Sacrament of Marriage.

“Do it Yourself” parish name badges are available at both Churches. Please collect one, write your name AND WEAR IT. These are free of charge.

The Parish Council is still seeking two or three others to assist them with the parish picnic on the 30th August. This family event will celebrate 50 years of St Monica’s Church and 150 years of Brisbane Archdiocese, the local church to which we belong. Please call the parish office if you are able to assist.

Parish Mission and Renewal: July 2009. Fr Kevin O'Shea, leading Redemptorist Theologian will speak at all Masses over a Five Week period. Fr. O'Shea will be available for individual discussion and direction. Please phone him on 5575 2311.

Bereavement Support Group: All who are experiencing grief are invited to a Morning Tea with other members of the Parish Community on Wednesday 8th July. St Monica Centre, 10:00 a.m.

Next Care & Concern meeting at St. Monica's Centre on Tuesday 14th July. Morning Tea at 9:30 followed by meeting at 10:00 a.m. Special guest speaker is Kaylene Langford who at 20 years of age is Chaplain at Marymount College, Burleigh Waters. AM Journal: Sponsorship has become available in the August issue for the 50th Anniversary of St. Monica's and subsequent issues. Please contact the Parish Office if you know of a suitable sponsor. Please also send your submissions or ideas for articles in the journal.

Holy Communion Ministry: If ou would like to assist in this vital ministry of visiting and offering Holy Communion to residents at Domayne Nursing Home, Kirra, please contact the Parish Office on 5598 2165. Training is available and your presence is always appreciated by residents and staff.
