Baptism

Contact Fr. Kevin or Bob Boardman on 55982165 to discuss and make arrangements for the Sacrament of Baptism.
At this Parish, the Sacrament is celebrated in two stages. First there is a simple welcoming ceremony and a blessing by the Parish Priest at a weekend Mass in the presence of the worshipping community. This is followed by the Baptismal ceremony two or three weeks later in the context of a weekend Mass or at a separate time on Sunday.

The Parish Sacramental Team consists of a small dedicated group who organise and co-ordinate the Parish program under the guidance of Fr Kevin. The group meets on a regular basis to cater for children of Sacramental age from the Parish.

Each year children of Year 3 are introduced to a simple reconciliation ceremony where the children gather as a group in the Church and then go up individually and speak to either Fr Kevin or an assisting priest who are both seated around the altar.

The Year 5 children are later prepared for the first rite of Reconciliation. Both of these ceremonies are celebrated during the season of Lent.

Year 4 children are prepared for Confirmation and Eucharist after Easter. This preparation begins with a parent information evening. The parents and children then form small home groups and meet each week to discuss the sacraments together. This four week period concludes with the Bishop officiating at the Confirmation ceremony. For the following weekends the children attend any of the weekend Masses and complete the sacraments of initiation into our Catholic community with the receiving of their First Eucharist.

If you have any concerns regarding the Sacramental Program please ring the Parish (55982165) or the school (55988730) for assistance.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is:

A journey of faith
A chance to discover more about who I am as a daughter or son of a gracious and loving God
A step on your journey to understand more about the Catholic faith.
An opportunity to come to know Jesus Christ.

People who decide to begin this journey of faith are accompanied by a sponsor in a small group along with other fellow travellers and their sponsors and the group facilitated by a leader.
